When I began working with a student from Sussex House, he exhibited strong potential but struggled to apply his abilities confidently in high-pressure situations. His parents were keen to support his aspirations of securing a King’s Scholarship at Eton College, knowing the exam’s challenging format and high expectations.

Over the course of six months, we developed a structured, targeted preparation plan. I was approached by the parents of a Year 11 student who aspired to secure a Sixth Form place at King’s College School, Wimbledon and Latymer. At the start of our sessions, she was struggling with self-confidence in Maths and lacked the strong foundational skills needed to succeed in the highly competitive 16+ entrance exams.

Over a three-month period, I worked closely with her to address her specific needs and build her confidence step by step. We began by revisiting core concepts and identifying gaps in her understanding. Using tailored strategies and practice questions, I helped her establish a solid foundation in algebra, geometry, and problem-solving.

As her understanding improved, we moved on to tackling advanced and exam-specific topics. I introduced timed mock tests to simulate real exam conditions, helping her manage anxiety and learn to apply her knowledge under pressure. With consistent encouragement, she grew increasingly confident in her ability to approach challenging questions.

By the end of our sessions, her progress was remarkable. She performed exceptionally well in both entrance exams and received offers from both schools. Ultimately, she chose to attend King’s College School, Wimbledon, for her Sixth Form. Her parents expressed immense gratitude, noting not only her academic success but also her significant growth in confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
